Kapiolani Health is a leading healthcare provider that has been serving Hawaii's diverse population with a wide range of medical services since 1890. With its quality reputation, Kapiolani Health attracts a talented staff of physicians. As the number of physicians continued to grow, maintaining their on-line physician directory became cumbersome. Kapiolani Health sought an efficient way to provide a current physician directory for the community it serves.
DataHouse created an efficient solution that integrated with Kapiolani Health's existing Web site and allowed the staff to use Microsoft tools already available in their offices.
Through a form, staff members are able to update a physician's education, specialties, languages spoken, board certification and practice locations. The information is collected and managed in a Microsoft Access database. To display this information on the Web site, DataHouse used the Microsoft Active Server Pages language to format the data in an attractive page layout. To publish this information, a Kapiolani Health staff member uploads the database to a specified directory on the IIS server. The updated information is then available to the public.
