Network Administration

Our Network Administrators design and manage the hardware, software and communications services to provide a secure and reliable connection for our customers. Services include:

• Systems administration of the customer's hosting environment including the installation and maintenance of server hardware and software (Unix, NT, Sun Solaris, AIX, Linux, etc.).
• Installation and maintenance of Web applications software platforms and databases (Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL, etc.) .
• Handling of operational tasks including the day-to-day management of the servers, routers, switches, firewalls, network connections, backup of information and media management of the backup data (off-site storage).
• Monitoring of hardware and software, network connections, Web sites and applications, and responding to and correcting faults detected.

Security Administration

Our Security Administrators ensure the proper setup and ongoing administration of infrastructure security for network and hosting operations.

• Protecting applications with firewalls, offering controlled access to network resources with a system of integrated software and hardware (Cisco PIX firewall with fail-over capability).
• Securing communications between the Web user and Web application by isolating each client's environment with Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) and Secure Socket Layer (SSL), which uses digital certificates to encrypt data that is transferred.
• Securing connection between customers and their Web applications at our hosting center with redundant connections through multiple backbone providers. For customers requiring an encrypted connection, Nettricity can provide a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that uses the Internet as a medium for transporting data.

Firewall Administration

Our Firewall Administrators are trained in the configuration and maintenance of Checkpoint Software Firewall-1 and Cisco PIX Firewall.

Database Administration

Our Database Administrators provide a full range of database support services. They are well-versed in warehouse and transaction processing databases, data modeling tools and associated design principles.

Server Administration

Our Server Administrators install software configurations and manage server hardware. Their experience includes: Unix, Windows, Windows NT and Linux operating systems, application Resin and WebSphere Web servers and other software.

Our Production Administrators organize and manage the day-to-day operation of our hosting centers. These responsibilities include periodic scheduling of the backup of data from the servers and the collection, analysis and reporting of operational data.

Monitoring Services and Capacity Management

We monitor your business applications 24x7 to ensure maximum system availability and performance. During high-traffic periods, capacity is managed to accommodate higher volumes of users. Services include:

• Pinging servers
• Monitoring availability of secured and non-secured pages
• Tracking capacity of CPU, memory, storage and network to monitor the utilization and capacity of servers
• Reporting server utilization and capacity on a monthly basis

Change Management

When a system or application change is required, Nettricity is well-prepared to manage the change in a timely manner. This includes business application modifications, application promotions, platform patches, and operating system and firmware patches.

Access Management

As necessary, Nettricity can manage user access to your business applications. Nettricity uses a disciplined procedure for receiving requests, having them approved, assigning specific roles and/or rights, auditing and reporting when the access is provided or removed.

Backup and Restore Services

Our disciplined backup and restore services provide extra assurance that customers will have access to important information:

• Backup all files and databases on servers daily. Backup database transaction logs on an hourly basis.
• Retain backup files off-site and retain monthly archives.
• Provide backup capacity equal to the total usable storage space available on servers.
• Encrypt data on backup tape.

Network Support

A Hawaii-based staff provides network and systems management. Our 24x7 automated monitoring and staff notification proactively monitors:

• Network connectivity
• Firewall and server up or down
• Periodic checks of URLs
• General health of the network including backend connectivity
