This project involved:
The fundamental mission of Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH) is to support the research and training programs of the University of Hawaii. In doing so, RCUH oversees the funding for University of Hawaii researchers and accounts for researchers' payroll and purchasing needs. In turn, researchers all over the world need current information regarding the availability of funds. At any given time, RCUH may administer to 1,000-1,200 project personnel.
DataHouse's management consultants assessed RCUH's business process, physical environments and technical requirements and developed a secure Web site that puts funding information at researchers' fingertips, wherever they are located. Researchers use a Web browser to retrieve budget reports and other information relating to their project. The information is stored in an AS/400 database. This solution provides researchers with information as current as of the close of the previous business day.
Through the Web site, researchers are also able to submit purchase orders on-line. Both administrators and researchers benefit as processing and approval time is significantly reduced.
RCUH outsourced much of its IT responsibility to DataHouse. DataHouse supports their financial management and software upgrades, provides desktop and network support, and manages their entire computing infrastructure including data backs ups, security, and operations.
