Job Summary
The Medior/Senior Software Tester is responsible for testing features of complex software solutions. They will analyze functional and non-functional requirements to design and execute test cases, often jointly in collaboration with business Subject Matter Experts to support a hybrid Waterfall-Agile testing approach.
Main Accountabilities
- Understand the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and apply concepts as applicable to my assigned tasks
- Lead the planning and execution of testing in alignment with the preferred project and testing methodology in use by the Client
- Design and execute test cases for features of a complex solution by understanding and analyzing functional and non-functional requirements
- Provide guidance to junior members of the testing team
- Able to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely in both written and verbal forms
- Planning and execution of Black Box testing, including testing of alternative, exception, and error cases as well as boundary testing
- Defect Management, including logging defects, triaging severity and priority based on business input, and re-testing defect fixes
- Apply industry-standard testing techniques at all post-development levels of the STLC
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or a related field.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in software testing
- Proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese is required (HSK Level 3+ or equivalent certification preferred). Proficiency in English is a plus.
- Solid experience with telecom domain projects or telecom service platforms.
- Analyze user requirements and software requirements to understand what needs to be tested
- Participate in the requirement clarification sessions with colleagues
- Provide the work breakdown and estimate for a given requirement or user story for testing activities
- Read the test plans of the test lead and follow the guidelines set by the test plan.
- Inform the test lead about what resources will be required for software testing.
- Develop test cases and prioritize testing activities.
- Execute all the test cases
- Report defects, define severity and priority for each defect.
- Carry out regression testing every time changes are made to the code to fix defects.
- Report the testing progress and status to the manager
- Send open bug list to project manager when project releasing
- Create test report when project releasing
- Communicate with the client if they report a defect to understand the defect and reproduce the defect
